Princess Alexandra Parrots

“Rare Beauties – Princess Alexandra Parrots” – Acrylic

I was privileged to see these beautiful parrots on a holiday in Tamworth NSW. They were named after Princess Alexandra of Denmark who married Edward VII and went on to become Queen of the UK.
They are incredibly pretty birds. Unfortunately this species is listed as threatened or vulnerable in Australia.
I wanted to capture the cheeky looks they were giving us at the time. The colour fascinated me and it was quite a task matching the vibrant yellow-green of the wings.
I am also thrilled with the framing as it really complements the artwork. When you have a framer like Nadya at Art and Mirror Framing, you stick to them. I strongly believe a good frame is the final step in the finished product.
