Resume Writing Day

Saturday turned out to be a a tad wet but certainly cooler.  The participants attending the session represented a range of artistic abilities and experiences.  Some had a resume and wanted to improve on it while others had not put one together.  It is not easy to highlight one’s endeavours and successes in an open forum.  Indeed, when it comes to identifying those aspects, the participants were unclear and  not entirely comfortable as to what to include.  However as the session progressed there was a distinct paradigm shift from apprehensive to the “ahaa!”  The increased group interaction and laughter was a positive indication of the change.

The group worked through 3 parts of the session…

  1. warm up and ‘getting to know you’ brainstorming and sharing
  2. artistic career and various aspects of that journey
  3. what is an effective resume? Starting the resume,  with my assistance and group discussion.

The participants will now put together a resume and email me for any feedback.

I had a great time as these artists are exceptional people who have quite diverse experiences.  The participants had  fun and their evaluations  were glowing.  The real test will be when they present a completed resume for the Oatley 101 Society of Artists Profile folder.
