Miniature Art. Kingfishers – Jewels of the Forest.

Recently I have been trying my hand at painting miniature artworks using some of my favourite subjects.

Beautiful Jewels

Australian kingfishers are some of the most beautiful birds I have ever seen.  The bright metallic flashes in the sunlight and their acrobatic flight, is incredible.  I love the way they pose, ever watchful. These particular works have been done using acrylic pens on black gessoed canvas.  Initially I did them for myself but the interest in them has been wonderful.

I am planning to do a series of my favourite birds including more kingfishers, kookaburras, sunbirds and tawney frogmouths.
