Meercat Commissioned Painting

I was commissioned to paint this painting of two adult meercats and a juvenile. The client had given me many photos he took of his partner’s ‘Meercat Experience’ at Mogo Zoo. It was a surprise Christmas present for his partner. The brief was to have them facing forward on black, with minimal peripherals. I spent a lot of time sketching the combination and kept him up to date until we were both happy with the composition. His partner was thrilled to bits. Needless to say I was a tad relieved as one is never sure until the client has engaged with the commission.
