Keeping Gouache moist while in use.

I use a wet pallette for my acrylic painting.  It is inexpensive as I use a damp cloth on a tray and covered with baking paper.  Many artists use this method and it works well.  I thought if it did work so well with acrylics maybe it would work with gouache.  Gouache tends to dry quite quickly and then needs to be moistened again.  I like to use it as it comes from the tube.  After trying the acrylic method I found that the paints stayed moist (and at the right consistency) all day.  I was thrilled.  This way I can change the pace of my painting process.
