Bushman’s Clocks

“Dawn Guardian” -acrylic on stretched canvas

“Dawn Keeper” – Acrylic on stretched canvas.

As a wildlife artist, I only paint the birds and animals I have been blessed to see.  These beautiful kookaburras visit my garden every day.  Their noisy alarms at dawn, (and often earlier) are a joy to hear.  They are the most interesting models as they sit so still for their photos to be taken, or sketches to be done.

The trees beside our home are beautiful and full of the gnarly features of Australian gums.  The combination of these Aussie natives is iconic.

I wanted to herald both and the comfortable way they sit together.  In these 2 works I have combined airbrushing, brush and palette knife techniques to achieve the affect of the day approaching.  The light and touch of the air at this time of day, is intoxicating.

The works are both on stretched, deep edge canvas, 40 cms x 122 cms in size.  They are equally suited to hanging together or separately.

Viewers of the works have commented that there is a glow, even a hologram affect in different lights.

They are available for sale.  If interested please email me.
