I am blown away by the reassuring comments by viewers of this painting. I wanted to create a feeling of cool, quiet and disappearing light which I personally experience in the beautiful rain-forests of the Atherton Tablelands in North Queensland. It was on display for the first time at the Oatley 101 Ardency exhibition. Here viewers would lean in and around the painting fascinated by the 3D effect. One lady even ventured to caress the chest of the birds. Comments about the sheen on the kingfishers’ feathers and the appearance of moisture on the branches were made often. For people to engage with my art to this degree is very heartening.
The high quality framing includes a triple matt with a spacer and finished off with a timber frame matching the grain of the branches.
